Kenton Youth Club has two sessions, one for 9-13 year olds (inclusive), which runs from 6.45 to 8.15, and one for 12 – 18 year olds (inclusive), which runs from 8.15 to 9.45. Both are held every Monday, with the exception of Bank Holidays, Easter and the month of August(please see the Sessions Page for confirmation of dates).

There are weekly subs of 60p.

KYC offers a variety of equipment for the youngsters’ use, including a pool table, table tennis, games machine, board games etc. Occasional trips are also organised. In contrast to structured activities offered by other clubs and organisations, KYC aims to provide a safe environment where the young people generate their own activities and where structure is minimal. During the time the younger members are at the club they will be encouraged to stay within the boundaries of the hall site. However, it is impractical to enforce this and therefore it is up to parents to set the agenda with regard to this and their children leaving early etc. Members can come or leave at any time during the session.

The club is part of the Devon Youth Network. I currently run the Youth Club and I am  police checked. There are also 2 helpers, Emma, also police checked, and Josh, who both attend the first session. I am the only adult at the second session.

There is a disciplinary policy which allows for the banning of anyone who consistently causes a problem, bullies, or stops other members from having fun. However, this is a last resort. Parents may be advised of the reason for the ban if it is felt applicable. Although accidents happen we would expect payment for any damages deliberately caused or caused by unacceptable behaviour. I hope you will support us in ensuring the club is a secure and enjoyable meeting place.

The following rules are intended to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all members.

1. Bikes and skateboards cannot be used in the building or around the front and sides of it. If brought to Youth Club they can only be used in the main car park. Bikes cannot be kept inside the building when they are not being used. It is recommended that locks be brought for the bikes.

2. The extension to the stage area and the associated staircase, the pit area, and the pre-school garden are out of bounds.

3. Rubbish must be placed in the bins provided and not thrown on the floor.

4. Tree climbing and chasing through the hall are not allowed.

5. The kitchen area is out of bounds, unless otherwise instructed.
